So much has happened in the Style Force world, I scarce had time to email, let alone blog.

We've chosen our winners and had the most amazing show, which really embodied the essence of cutting edge fashion and design.

Our MC for the evening was Buli G, judges were divided into model judges, mohair judges, 3rd yr ranges judges, Smirnoff Storm YDC judges and crafter judges. This meant that the load was evenly spread & everyone had individual attention paid to their craft.

Our models were hot, keep your eyes open coz they are going to create a heat wave once they get going. Jessica De Beer & Enrique Noonan took top honours, while Karis Bailey and Nathan Ingram were worthy runners up. Then Olwethu Rabi & Werner Oelofse took the coveted third place.

The designs were amazing. Slam dunk to all the winners! They are true trend forecasters and masters of their craft. Colleen Eitzen from The Space was blown away by the talent, I know, coz i was sitting right next to her. She could retort the names of the designers by just looking at the garments on show, pretty impressive.

The crafters are inspirational, coming up with creative way's to make accessories from any types of material. The accessories were not outlandish at all, they complimented the outfits as per the brief given to them. So, this meant embellishing belts, scarves or the actual garment or adding actual accessories to the outfit. The bags on show were obviously winners for me!

I wish I could wrap up the whole show in a couple of words, but that will never happen, my language is too inadequate to do the show justice, so I invite you to watch the little snippets of the edited video online. I also am taking liberties by appealing to you to fill the gap in your fashion education and buy tickets for next years show. Its already being planned, and Oh My, what a show it is going to be.

More on the show and the models, a little later.

TV shows have cliff hangers to draw viewers back, so, why cant I? :-)

Finalists Chosen

(Sh)models were the career of choice on Wednesday evening (10 sept) at Balizza (Walmer, PE) which hosted the semi final leg of Style Force's Model Hunt 2008.

A full house of hotties (models & public alike) meant the evening was off to a fashionably fierty start. The dj decided to raise the roof by pumping some fierce tunes & Darron man, Mr Algoa FM himself MC'd the models onto the stage to start what would be a tight foot stomping model challenge. A cat fight ensued... KIDDING!!! We're all civil around here!

Girls and guys alike took to the ramp as if they were groomed supermodels come to life. It made the judges (Design students & former Faces/ Style Force winners) jobs a less enviable task. Cutting 35 to 26 might seem easy maths, but if you had a look at the lovely legs & stapped abs tackling the stage, you'd understand my sentiments.

The competition was tight, but alas, we have to get to our finalists, which we did. Our public left the competitors breathless with all the support they put behind their finalist, the atmosphere was absolutely electric! So who are the finalists, well - you'd have to wait for the weekend post for that bit of info if you missed out on the semi final event (which was free of charge to the public - so no excuses for not being there!)

Go have a look at the photographs on the web to see if you recognise any of the who's who - who attended! www.weekendpost.co.za

why style force

Hi Guys

Ever wonder how and why some people make it big in the fashion and beauty industry? You might say they are lucky and I would disagree with you a little on that note.

Some people see opportunities and make things happen and others let things happen. What do you think the outcomes would be?

Well, here's an opportunity for you. Weather you would just like to be at the forefront of what's happening in the modelling & fashion industry or if you see your future heading in that direction, then you better read up & read carefully.

Style force is your chance to see and be seen. Its literally Port Elizabeth's biggest event of the year, and if you miss any part of it, believe me - you'll be missing out on a big part of your fashion education!

Many big name models have started out on the ramps of Style force, previously known as Images or The Look 2000. The competition does so because it looks for the potential that the successful model agencies look for in a model that can make it big.

Its a fashion forward event which allows all those who take part to express themselves through their own individual style. The NMMU design students get involved by showcasing their 3rd year ranges on the models fighting it out to be the last one stomping up that ramp. There's a section called the Young Designer awards, sponsored by Smirnoff Storm, which is the pinnacle of creativity. In this section, all designer students have to take part in a Free Creative Show, which is just that... Freedom to Create whatever you want (within a budget). What they put on stage is outrageous! (In a fabulous way) Then out of the bunch of students showcasing, they get whittled down to about 26 students who will take part in the Smirnoff Storm YDC Fashion Challenge. Its great fun!

So, why all of this info? Well the clothing needs to be shown off, so who better than the models auditioning for the title of the 2008 Style Force Fashion EXTRAVAGANZA!

Here's how it goes. On the 29 Aug, we have an audition for models (male & female) to be part of the Gala Event. After the Auditions are wrapped up, the Free Creative Fashion Show / Challenge takes place to get the designers for the YDC section of style force.

Then we have a process of elimination with the models which involves a fashion show and then an announcement of who goes through to the final.

Then the fun starts.

Models experience what it would be like being part of a huge production! The show is never redone, you never know what to expect from a spectators point of view.

At the gala event the top models get chosen & the top designers. A prize giving happens and then the glorified after party!

Then throughout the year the models get involved in various in house promotions of their various sponsored. Get invited to the best parties / events. They are also on the most wanted lists of top agencies locally and nationally as they are well promoted. Those who take part in style force have a future riddled with success just waiting for them to crack it wide open.

It's not a matter of who wins it, but who gets involved in it. Weather it be on a competitive front or just as a socialite, this is one event to be added to everyone's to do list. If you aren't convinced by now, you must be reading the wrong blog.
